Love, The Ghost ![]() 02 / 12 / 09 ![]() On sale this saturday in the WKY SHOP is my newest toy, Hickory Bitternut III: The King Of The Forest!! I am super excited about this toy! It's 5 and half inches tall, hand casted and painted by myself. There will only be 15-20 of these so keep you eye on the shop on saturday! They will be on sale at 3pm (toronto) or 12 noon (califorina)! Love, The Ghost ![]() 02 / 09 / 09 ![]() And the first new toy of the year has been sculpted! I am proud to introduce to you the King Of The Forest! I hope to have the first version of this toy released on Valentines Day to mark one year of WKY toys! For more pictures please check out the King of the Forest set on flickr! "Born in the year 1823 into the Royal Deciduous Family, the King was given the name Hickory Bitternut III. His family was responsible for making sure the balance was kept in the sacred peaceful bond between nature, critter and human. In the early 1900's a deadly disease had struck the Bitternut forest forcing all trees and animals to flee so as not to get sick. Hickory was the only survivor of the R.D.F and thus was crowned king, though he never really felt fit for the job. As years went by, more and more animals started to move to the new kingdom and they all had stories to tell of why they had to flee their home land. One day a chipmunk arrived after traveling hundreds of miles on the back of a fox. He was very sick and died in the branches of Hickory, but not before telling him that it was the humans in their machines that had broken the sacred bond and were the reason for all the disease and suffering. Infuriated by this, the King held a meeting with all the other leaders of the forest to let them know that bond had been broken and humans were no longer to be trusted. Today, the King still watches over the animals and plants of the forest and keeps the balance of nature in check. He is slowly fighting back at the humans and their machines to make sure that they don't destroy the little bit of forest that is left!" Love, The Ghost ![]() 02 / 03 / 09 ![]() Looking back at my calender from the past year, it seems that Valentines Day marks the first official release of We Kill You Toys!! As you may recall, one year ago Monstre De Marais made his Valentines Day debut in clear pink with a red heart. For this 1 year anniversary I will be releasing a brand new toy! He's a smart old fellow with a heart of gold and a back of stone... In the picture above you will see a photo of 3 blank toys that may or may not be unfamiliar to you. These are resin toys by a friend of mine and fellow artist Hello Brute. We have traded a few of our toys to see what our separate styles can bring out in them! When they are all done we will be selling them on our online stores! I'll keep you all up to date with this, and if your are interested. A few weeks ago THIS VIDEO aired up here in Toronto about girls and gaming. Check it out, WKY got a lot of nice coverage!! Please don't get mad at me for the reporter asking stupid questions and thinking that girls only like cutesy games, i had nothing to do with this interview! Love, The Ghost ![]() 01 / 28 / 09 ![]() Every once in a while I get an email that turns my crappy mood right around, and today that came from a guy named Shaun in Australia. A few years ago Shaun sent me a photo of his surfboard he had made that was coverd in WKY monsters, and I was shocked at how cool it looked! Today I got a message from him with the picture above of the board in action! This is my favorite photo I have ever recieved and really struck a chord with me. Check out this awesome video he also sent me of him surfing: Thank you so much Shaun, this has made my day, you rule! Love, The Ghost ![]() 01 / 25 / 09 ![]() I've been spending a lot of my time recently painting canvases and custom toys. This year I'm gonna focus a lot of my time on artwork and really concentrate on making the best paintings I possibly can. Currently I have been working on more skate deck portraits and a few bigger canvases with a more colourful, geometric feel to them. Everyday I get more and more excited about what will happen the next time i have a blank canvas in front of me! I have recently developed a serious addiction to customizing and painting Mini Munnys. They are SO much fun! I have photos of one of the more recent custom jobs on MY FLICKR account. If you are interested in one of these please shoot me an email and we can work something out for you!! I would love to build an entire family (army!) of these wonderful toys! In the WKY SHOP you will see that i have gotten in some more stock of the Gelaskins. There are skins for laptops, ipods, iphones, DS's and PSP's! You will also notice that there are still a couple of The Golden Bough ghost boys for sale in the shop. They're are all hand made and hand painted, limited to only 5 pieces and come packaged in a bag with header card. Along with this i wanted to ask you all, what creature or monster would you like to see next in the line of WKY toys? i have a few sketched out but wanted to know if there was maybe something that you guys were really hoping for. Let me know by email! Not to long ago I did a video interview with TOY BREAK talking about my toys and the process of making your own toys. This interview should be up soon in an upcoming episode, and along with it, there will be a give away of a custom purple William Palerne!! More details on this will follow soon so keep you eyes and ears peeled! Love, The Ghost ![]() 01 / 15 / 09 ![]() New years resolution #1: update the news at least once a week! Its been way too long and there is so much to say! We are now in a brand new year and so much can be said for the last one. 2008 saw the introduction of WKY toys, the Board shop, the best shirts to date, dates on the Vans Warped Tour, and so many other little things bringing WKY to levels i never thought was possible at the start of the year. The toys have been finding their way to all corners of the globe and have been an insanely huge hit! The shirts had the same effect and have won over so many people at the Warped Tour who had never heard of WKY. Sometimes i have to take a minute to try and take in everything that has happened in 2008! Now lets move on, the past is in the past. Its time to look forward! According to the Chinese lunar calender, its my horoscope year (year of the ox!) and don't think i have ever been this excited about a new year in my life. i have so many things planned for you and i just cant wait to put them all in to action. Currently, I am working on new shirt designs and i am pretty sure that these are going to be the best shirts yet! Above you will see a teaser for one of the upcoming shirts inspired by one of my favorite bands, the Descendants. If your a fan of them, this shirt should make your day, because its my favorite WKY shirt so far! My love for 80's hardcore and video games is gonna show in this line of shirts as well. The We Kill You toy factory (aka me and my studio) have so many plans for this coming year. So far I have 4 new toys planned, one of which i hope to have sculpted by the end of the month. You should still see a few of the older characters drop every once in a while, but i would like to try and keep them limited to very few colour ways. Oh, and if you're ever looking for a custom of any of the toys, feel free to email me and talk about it! On a final toy note, tomorrow, friday the 16th, will be the release of Ghost Boy: The Golden Bough limited to only FIVE!! this will be available in the shop and will go on sale at 3 pm Toronto time, 12 noon for the west coast. There has been a lot of interest expressed for this colour way! ![]() Love, The Ghost ![]() |
